Mythologising the legitimate online moneymaking industry

The main problem with all the scams going on and the programs that barely last 2 weeks is that it is making the online moneymaking industry seem like a sham. It is quickly falling into disrepute, with admins running with members money, or GPT sites opening and closing without paying members, e-gold accounts getting hacked, etc.

Yet investors are not just the only ones affected by this downturn. It is probably the administration or management of legitimate moneymaking programs that are suffering. Feederfund,com and Legisi Holdings were two such legitimate HYIPs who were forced to close public membership as they were prominent during the great failures of many large investment sites. Both survived massive hacker attacks and Feederfund has already gone private while Legisi will follow in June 2007.

Smileytraffic, an underdog in the traffic industry for the past 7 years, lost a lot of money to Stormpay and Paypal when they were assumed without justification to be part of the pyramid-schemed scams that littered the internet. Today they have grown back and are stronger than ever.

The most resilient is perhaps e-gold. It survived at least two FBI and Interpol investigations, innumerable hacker attacks, but today keeps growing from strength to strength and is in fact the only purely online electronic currency to be affiliated with the US government in a coalition of law.
